Medical Disclaimer

Version 1.0.1. Effective August 4, 2026.

Framework Films, LLC, doing business as clearlabel (“we”, “us”) operates the clearlabel application. This disclaimer is part of the clearlabel Terms of Service.

clearlabel is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. clearlabel is an informational tool. It reads ingredient lists, scores products on ingredient quality, and runs statistical analyses over the meals and symptoms you choose to log. Everything it shows you, including Clear Scores, personal scores, patterns, hunches, forecasts, biome visualisations, and anything the Claire assistant says, is information derived from ingredient data and from your own logs. None of it is a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or medical advice.

Patterns are correlations, not causes

When clearlabel says an ingredient “keeps appearing before” your logged symptoms, it means exactly that: a statistical association inside your own data. Correlation is not causation. An association can be produced by chance, by another ingredient that travels with the one flagged, by timing, stress, sleep, illness, medication, or by anything else the app cannot see. A “confirmed” label means the association cleared our statistical threshold in your logs. It does not mean the ingredient causes your symptoms, and it is not a food intolerance or allergy determination.

Do not make treatment decisions based on this app

Do not start, stop, or change any medication, treatment, or medically supervised diet because of anything clearlabel shows you. Do not use clearlabel to diagnose yourself or anyone else. Significant dietary changes, including elimination diets, can affect your health and are best undertaken with professional guidance.

Talk to a clinician

If you have symptoms that concern you, are persistent, or are getting worse, see a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified health professional. Bring your clearlabel logs if you find them useful. They are a record of what you ate and how you felt, and that conversation is exactly what this tool is for. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in this app.

Allergy safety

clearlabel's product data can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong, and manufacturers reformulate products without notice. If you have a food allergy or any condition where ingestion carries serious risk, always read the physical package label and follow the guidance of your clinician. Never rely on clearlabel to determine that a product is safe for you.

Emergencies

clearlabel is not for emergencies. If you think you are experiencing a medical emergency, such as signs of anaphylaxis, call your local emergency number immediately.

No clinician relationship

Using clearlabel does not create a doctor-patient or dietitian-client relationship with us or with anyone who works on the product.
